Composting

Next on the list was to dedicate somewhere on the plot for composting.

There was an existing area by the shed which had become a bit of a dumping ground for everyone it seemed.

I actually saw someone wheel up and chuck a load of stuff on the pile - being a newbie I didn’t really know if this was normal or something I should be miffed about?

When I got shown the plot - I was told it’d become a dumping ground.

Seeing lots of other plots have DIY style pallet composting bays I did want to replicate this, but found it a bit frustrating to try and find enough of the right type.

In the end I bought a cheapish wooden set online, which looked ok.

On reflection I wish I’d spent a little bit more - I bought a better one for the garden at home which is much better quality.

It’s not the prettiest setup, and it’s a bit wonky as the ground was a bit uneven and the design asked for the posts to be sunk into the ground which made alignment tricky.

It’s a start at least…

I put some of the best looking compost from the existing heap to get it going.
